Art show

I rediscovered my love for painting during the time my husband was unemployed an I even sold a few on my Etsy store on line.  Most of them are collaborations, things I had seen here and there and I re-did them to discover my own ideas. I thought I would share them with you here.

a painting of my friend Nancy and I :)

"Don't worry she said everything will be OK" because sometimes you need to hear these words.

YOU are a child of God.

my Garden fairy rescuing a blue bird with a broken wing.

my sweet Rooney dog as he was trying to take a sniff at my apple pie I had just made...

She said "I'd rather ask forgiveness than permission" as my friend Louise stoled figs from my neighbors yard.

MY DREAM car. VW bus.

Four loving cats. Thankfully I am not a crazy cat lady but I do have two.

This is sometimes easier said than done.

"don't worry she said it's nothing a few cupcakes can't handle"

Wings heal, hearts mend and life moves on. They do. and that is a good thing.

I hope you enjoy my art, they speak to my heart as I am painting them. Each one has a special story. You can read about them there on my ETSY store.   Cheers!

Im off for a bike ride today how about YOU?

Cooper River Bridge run 2012

This is me right before the Cooper Bridge run at 6am.. You have to line up for this thing at 7 am with a start time of 8am ... this year however there was SEVERAL issues that the race director seemed to have. YIKES.. it was 9 am before we started.

In all I had a pretty slow race.. but not bad for me, as I took on a full time/ part time job this year. And had some pretty fantastic stress.. which you can read about further down.
Before the race this was most all of my bibs and medals. Something to be proud of! :) Cheers

RE-Use RE-Cycle!

I found this tray in some one's garbage the other day.

I figured with a little chalk board paint and some thing to hang it with it would make a proper new sign for my kitchen.

and I was RIGHT! super cool for writing the grocery list on.

the kitty has decided my new POOL bag (see previous post) is her new cuddle home.

Aprons

While my husband was unemployed I found a cute little shop in Flat Rock NC to feature some of my items. I was really nervous about asking people to have my things in their shop... but well It went something like this.

I friend' ed a bunch of little places on FB asked them to check out my Madi Sweet and Sassy on FB and check out my etsy store to see if it was something they would have in their shop.  I got a few offers but most of the shops wanted rent PLUS a commission on my items. Seemed too risky for me.  I finally settled on a shop that charged 20% of what I would sell.  They did not sell a whole bunch of items but I did manage to snag a few followers and end up selling more on my Etsy store. I also got quite a few custom orders for aprons and such.  The next few photos represent some custom aprons, a pattern I came up with on my own and a pattern from my friend in Australia http://louisestuart.typepad.com/ she has this blog here and this Amazing APP here http://academyapps.com/

this pattern I am attempting to make into a dress pattern for summer..

i should have ironed this one first.. it is a Louise pattern

long boards! an Unemployment twist.

While my husband was out of work, we spent a good amount of our "dates" out at the book store.

We happened to pick up a Make Magazine while we were there and it had several "crafty" unique ideas in it that I LOVED. Since he was unemployed we needed some Christmas gift ideas for our son.

These are just some of the boards he made from the idea from Make Magazine http://makezine.com/

I thought they were super fantastic and cost a little bit of money for father and son bonding!

I love http://makezine.com/ for this!! just LOVE!

London Calling!

London calling anyone?

This funky beach bag was put together in one afternoon.

Its all ready to take to the pool this summer. The handles I found in a drapery thrift store, used as tie backs. The fabric both outside and inside I also got in a thrift store, for 20.00 I still have 9 yards left of each.

This will be truly a one of a kind pool bag for us! After all London has been calling me .....
